Thousands Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms

Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, generating powerful gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Hailstones and Broad Destruction

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the extensive power failures.

Victorian Weather Woes

At the same time, approximately one thousand residents in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.

Emergency response teams responded to 598 emergency reports across the region, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both regions.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
