Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
