'People are intimidated' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal are now many people's top picks to win the Premier League during this term.

Consider their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's backline resilience is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They stand first for clean sheets (6), goals conceded (3), opposition efforts (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but rival sides still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these situations.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is especially notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the outset, having spent around £250m on eight summer additions in quest of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the most resilient defense, despite several injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three consecutive Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have labeled Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and determination.
