Large-scale Russian Assaults Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were injured.

The assaults come after evenings of air raids in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
